Tell the Senate to Oppose a 20 Week Abortion Ban
Help Stop the Congressional Attacks on Reproductive Rights
Tuesday, September 8, marks the end of August reccess and the resumption of the Congressional session and the attacks on comprehensive reproductive health care. The Senate is under pressure to act on S 1553, which relies on junk science to institute a federal 20 week abortion ban. Despite bill proponents’ claims, the American Medical Association released a report that refutes the claim that a 20 week old fetus can feel pain. Furthermore, this bill would institute a waiting period of 48 hours before abortions can be performed, creating additional hurdles for women trying to access them. A version of this bill, HR 36, passed the House earlier this year, despite opposition from reproductive rights advocates.
